OOTD

Hi Everyone, going to try to get back into my blog, I have left her blank for far too long. I want to post more outfits of the day with where I got them and what they cost. Some days they may be great and some days they may be a, well I’m not feeling it kinda day. Today is an in between day so be kind!

The pants are from Body Central as well as the top. Probably still available as I got them only a few weeks ago. Shoes are from a couple of seasons ago so I am not sure where I purchased them, sorry.

Makeup is my usual, I am loving the new Cover girl 3 in 1 foundation mixed with a dab of Makeup Forever matte velvet+ No jewelry yet, may not wear any as this is grocery shopping and cleaning day.

I did manage a work out this morning …Using the Exercise ball and have to say don’t hate it :) I need to shed 6 to 8 pounds before summer, that may not sound like a lot but sometimes the smallest amount is the hardest to get rid of!! It is all relative too, as a small person 6 to 8 on me is 10 to 15 on someone else.  So wish me luck and maybe I will motivate some of you as well !!RSCN8730DSCN8731DSCN8733DSCN8735

The polish is from Hard Candy available at Walmart. Picked it up last night, they have a lot of really cool  new polishes. Not sure of it’s staying power yet but do love the colors, this one is Pixie Pink.

Think that is all for now, hopefully soon I will be back with something a bit more exciting so until then….Keep Stylin !!!DSCN8744

Retail Therapy

Since I have not given my blog any love for quiet awhile I felt it was way over due so here is my thoughts for my outing on the last day of July.
I had to make a trip to a larger city about an hour away for an unpleasant doctor’s appointment. To make my trip a little less painful some retail therapy was needed.
There is nothing in this world of the material kind that I love more than material… in the form of clothing. As a girl on a budget I look for the best deals and who has sales or coupons they want to put in my hot little hands. Kohl’s was my destination of choice this trip. Since they had sent me a 15% off coupon, it must be used.
Walking through the doors is a step back in time to my younger 80′s days when I wore these awesome flowered pants that I loved (picture will be inserted but…no laughing allowed, OK you can laugh a little). Now what do I see in the store but, flowered and patterned jeans !!! Yes! my younger self says, No! my older self says. You cannot pull that off any more girl your too old. Who says, if I like it than that should be good enough. I trust my own judgement and sense of style enough to know what I can and cannot wear. I proceed to the dressing room with a blue version of my beloved flowered pants. They fit, did I want them, yes! But… there was another pair screaming my name a tad louder. Tinseltown denim couture, royal blue with black, lets call it snake print. I chose them. 40% off plus 15% made them too good to resist plus, I love them. Already know what I am wearing them for.
Now, to the clearance aisle for glance. Found a couple of cute tops I will show pictures of in blue also, and then I had, just had to check out the jewelry. They had some trendy and classic pieces there. I bought a necklace that is edgy and different than what I already have in my collection. It looks very similar to some high end pieces I have seen around ( APT9 is the brand). So, score for me.
The check out girl says you must like blue because everything I bought was blue funny part is, I never wear blue, until now. Blue is big on the runways this fall so I guess I am on trend. I make my way to my car with treasures in hand a very happy and soon to be stylin girl or woman as the case may be.
Doctor appointment wasn’t as painful as I had imagined, I will fill you in more on that another day as it needs to be addressed but for now, dressing me is more important.
Next on my to do list is another one of my favorite things to do when I go out of town. Starbucks for the drive home (insert happy face) which usually consist of a grande java chip frappuccino.
Sometimes a girl must get away, even if it involve a trip to the doctor’s office, you can always make it up with a little retail therapy. If you don’t shop Kohl’s give them a shot especially if you have a millionaires taste on a beer budget :)

To Age or Not to Age?

This is going to be a bit different from my usual post! Why? is it the wine I am sipping as I write this or the mirror in front of  my computer? you decide.

I will be forty dare I say it… seven this year and I have to say I’m not too pleased about it.  I know, I know, it is better than the alternative, but come on!!! I long for the days when I get up looking like I did when I went to bed.

Every time I look in the mirror something is not where I last left it and it is getting old! Ok maybe it is because I am getting old. My son seems to think so! Let’s see what he thinks when he is forty sssseevvvenn ! Man that is hard to say!

Let me just say I am going to fight this aging thing with every thing in me and on my dressing table!!! Be it cream, oil, lotion, potion, I don’t care! I will slather, dip, dunk, drink, and eat my way to staying younger as long as I can. You heard it here first!!!

They say, it is a sign of wisdom to get older. Well, ok but does wisdom have to have wrinkles every time I smile? I don’t think so!

When my mother was 60 she looked 40 I only hope to do as well! God bless you mom for telling me never to smoke! Now if you would of just told me the rest of your secret! I always saw Oil of  Olay  on her dressing table maybe I need to make a run to the store!

Whatever the case may be I don’t like getting older for more than looks. People start getting sick and dying and you see it more and more as you age and I hate it and I don’t mind saying it. People say “that is life” but that doesn’t mean I have to like it .

We should start out old and then get younger so we could be healthier and better looking when we have been around longer and have more money to enjoy our selves!

Raise your hands if you want your younger self back when everything was where you remember it to be and as high as you remember it(them) to be!!!

If anyone has any secrets on how to reverse the clock on any level call me and we will have a glass of wine and a long talk because I just don’t want to get old!!! Sorry but it is true!!! I will, because I am against the alternative but I will fight it with every fiber of my being, That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!!

My Very First MAC Attack!

I finally had the treat of going to a MAC store and purchasing some products! Fun Fun Fun!

I had in mind mostly what I wanted, but the gals there are so helpful. You get to have them apply and help you with colors to compliment your completion.

My first purchase was Fix +, I love the smell of this product. There are several ways to use this but I use it to set my makeup when I am finished applying it.

Second, I got a MSF (Mineralized Skin Finish) This you can use like a powder after your foundation or as a light foundation. I am loving this, it has eliminated the use of powder and bronzer for me. I got the medium deep and it is perfect. Gives you a nice healthy glow, not a shine or shimmer.

Third, I got a paint pot in the color Dangerous cuv’ee, I believe this is a limited edition one. It is a silver, gray color with purple undertones. I use it as a base for my darker colored eye shadows and it is cool!

Last, the gal helping me suggested this and I am loving it. It is a Cream Color Base in Virgin Isle. It was really bright orange when I saw it in the pot but on your cheeks its a gorgeous blush color and the cool thing about it is it can be used as a blush, lipstick and eyeshadow or base.  I am excited about it and hope to look at some more colors in this product!

If you can’t get to a MAC store or counter you can go online to www.maccosmetics.com and buy online.

MAC also has a “Back to Mac” program where if you take them six empty containers of their products you will get a free product. How cool is that!

So, the moral of this story is… MAC is all that and I will definitely be  having another MAC attack as soon as possible!!!!

My Favorite things this month

Here are a few of the things I am loving this month. Check them out and see if any of them will work for you! BH Cosmetics 10 piece professional blush set. This is an awesome blush palette, it has every color you could want from pink, to bronzer, to highlighters. I would suggest adding this to your makeup collection. It is available at www.beautychoice.com for around $16.00

These are really good shirts for the money $7.00 at Walmart and they come in solid colors and patterns. They wash really well and look great tucked in with a cute belt or under another shirt, vest or sweater.I own four and decided I better stop and leave some for someone else:) They are V neck which is flattering to any body type. So next time your at Walmart look for these inexpensive tops this winter.

Wet and Wild Eyeshadow palette in Lust is a really good palette. There are three matt shadows and three shimmery shadows. This is the Burgundy palette. They have other colors to fit your style but the quality of these are exceptional for a drugstore shadow. They are very pigmented and creamy and if applied over an eyeshadow primer will last all day! Available at CVS for $4.99.

Tip of the Month:

When blowdrying your hair always use the medium setting never the hot unless spot drying. When hair is almost dry switch to the cool setting for 3 to 4 minutes and you will be amazed at the shine and smoothness it will give your hair.

Until next time Happy Holidays and Keep Styling :)

The Fab Five

This is a quick list of some of my favorite products right now. Short descriptions and  pictures will let you see what I am loving right now!

1. NYC Black lace cream nail polish. I never thought I would be in the black at least where nail polish is concerned! Wanted to give it a try so I purchased this cheaper brand so if it was a fail I was not out much, at around a dollar.

NYC Black Lace

It’s rather neat! If your hands are real pale you might want to smooth on some self tanner as I think it looks less harsh with some color to your hands.

So if your up for it give it a shot and if you don’t like it, well there is always polish remover :) .

2. Too Faced Natural Eye Palette….  This is one time it is good to be Too Faced! This is an awesome eyeshadow palette with one exception, The color Nude Beach is beautiful and has some glitter in it BUT… the fallout is awful. The glitter will be all over your cheeks.

The rest are awesome and can be worn in so many ways, the darker colors can double as liner or even eyebrow color.

Highly recommend this eye palette. It is from the brand Too faced, they have many wonderful products. They are a higher end line available at my beloved Sephora  and Ulta or on line. It runs around $35.00 but for nine shadows not too bad! Too Faced.

3. Too Faced: The Bronzed & The Beautiful, another awesome Too Faced product. If you cannot tell I like  the Too Faced brand. You get three bronzers:  Snow Bunny, Pink Leopard and Sun Bunny and a cute little kabuki brush. This set run around $40.00 and is also available at Sephora , Ulta and on line. The Too Faced line has the cutest packaging which will add to the desire to pick it up!

4. Venus Breeze is a breeze…. Love this razor it was already in my shower when I decided to include it in this post so sorry I can’t show you the packaging.

This razor has the built in soap on either side of the three blades so wet it and go. Makes shaving a Breeze. Think that has anything to do with the name?

5. Last but not least is another bronzer, I’m fascinated with bronzers if you could not tell! Hoola bronzer by benefit is a great bronzer for just about everyone. I think it is the most universal flattering bronzer out there. I love this for contouring. It does great with out being to orange or over the top! As with all make up the trick is blend, blend and when you think you have blended enough blend again.

We want to look good not made up!

AVEENO POSITIVELY RADIANT

Aveeno Positively Radiant makeup removing cleanser is now my HG cleanser! It is amazing, I now do not need to use makeup remover to remove my makeup before I cleanse my face! Not even eye makeup. I sometimes wear waterproof mascara and Aveeno  removes it as well!

It is a foam cleanser and I use two pumps. It  gently removes makeup for clean, radiant skin. Smoothes and softens skin with moisture-rich soy extract.(information from the bottle) Who doesn’t love soy!

When I got this I though I am putting this to the test so I wet my face and even rubbed it on my eyes really well to see if it removed makeup. I thought this is going to burn having it right in my eyes! It did not and my face was free of makeup and felt really nice and soft. Clean feeling!

So Aveeno I don’t know how you did it but don’t stop because this is awesome and is now the only cleanser I will be purchasing.

I do think a travel size would be nice Aveeno if your reading this :)

So ladies run do not walk to your nearest store for this fabulous cleanser you will not be disappointed!!! If you are call me I will buy it from you!

Keep Styling and Cleansing of course!!!

Grey Area

Well, I just did something I didn’t think I would ever do…buy grey nail polish! Thanks to my online friends I have been trying colors I would normally have passed up without a second glance.

Now being a rare breed of hair stylist I don’t care for artificial nails and I had gotten away from polish at all except for the pale pinks.

Here I go off to find some of these odd colors I would use on my nails. Like greys, forest greens, browns, but guess what? I think I like them! who knew!

A gray that I think I will be wearing a lot is by Rimmel Lasting Finish PRO, Steel grey. It looks awesome! Thanks Lisa!

This is the perfect time to try these colors going into fall they will look great with the fashion. The army look is in. Camo, Army jackets, and tops. Antiqued gold jewelry. I see a cute outfit in my future.

I have a few more different ones I want to try next trip to the beauty supply so if they are keepers I will post a picture of them in this article also so you can see and give them a try.

So; moral of this story is sometimes a grey area can be a good thing!!!!

Keep Stylin

Another cool color... Serenity
